More Than a Game

We are Aggies. To me, that stands for the integrity of thousands of men serving our country, here and abroad. It represents a fine higher education. It means family heritage. I am a third generation Aggie, and my children will grow to know and love the Aggie spirit and tradition. They will respect the military tradition and the men who serve. Yes, Aggies are passionate about football and especially about the game that is played the day after Thanksgiving, but it's much more than a game. It doesn't matter what the scoreboard says at the end of the game....we will continue to wear maroon. Here's the kids on gameday - some may say "brainwashing already?" But I say, I am just passing on a heritage that is important and full of character.

Mr. Personality

Our Jack is becoming quite the little comedian. He likes to make people laugh and enjoy life. Things that seem funny to him at the moment are: bathtime, Doc swatting flies, hot tubbin' with Dad, and his baby sister Josie. He laughs at her when she blows bubbles, hiccups and sneezes. She is built-in entertainment. Jack also can't contain his laughter when his Mom dances like a chicken. We love our little guy and his excitement for life.

We Give Thanks

"Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His love endures forever." Psalm 106:1
This Thanksgiving we thank God for His love and blessings upon our family. He has given us a new baby girl to love, new friends to share in fellowship, and two new cousins. We are mindful of our uncle and brother Clif who serves in Afghanistan and we are thankful for his service. We praise God for our church family that has welcomed us into their family. We are grateful for Jack and Josie's grandparents who love and support us unconditionally. I am personally thankful for my husband Will who leads our family with compassion and humility. As a family, we thank God for each of you who read this!
This year we celebrated Thanksgiving with Doc at the farm. We enjoyed a Greenberg turkey from Tyler, Doc's special dressing, and Mam's pumpkin roll. (Jack's favorite) Although we were a small group, our blessings were many. Here are a few photos (more to follow later) of our holiday.

Splish Splash

Little Josie doesn't get many baths....maybe it's because she's the second child or maybe it's because she doesn't really enjoy them. I think that Jack has taken a bath every day of his 20 month existence. Anyway, Josie is a little more content when we put a towel inside the infant tub and unwrap her a little bit at a time. I learned this trick from the nurses at Baylor when Jack was in the NICU. Here is our little girl taking a bath at the farm this weekend. What a cutie!

Old Doc's Farm

Jack's Doc has a farm in Clifton, and it's our favorite place to visit. This weekend we made the 2 hour trip to the farm for a little r&r for Mom, farm "work" for Jack, and extra attention for Josie. It was a great time. Old Doc has a farm, ei-ei-o. And on this farm he has some.......
TRACTORS!! Here is Doc's Kubota tractor. Doc looks forward to the day that Jack can ride around with him and do farm work. Right now the sound might scare the little boy but he is content to sit and "drive."

COWS!! Jack is liking Doc's cows more and more. The cows are calving right now and it's so fun to see the little calves. Jack can moo like a cow and on this visit, he even reached out to pet them.

FAMILY!! The best part about Doc's farm is being with family. Jack loves his Doc and Mam, his great Aunt Joyce and of course, his sister baby Josie.

CHICKENS!! Doc has taught Jack how to feed the chickens. Jack is not afraid of them and likes to feed them about 6 times a day! We know when he wants to visit the chickens because he makes this sound "bock, bock, bock." In this photo, he has dumped a whole can of feed out....seconds later the whole coop flocked to his feet for this feast. All of the animals are happy when Jack comes for a visit!

COUSINS!! Our cousins Garrett and Caroline Donaldson came to the farm on Sunday for lunch and a visit. This was their first time to meet Josie, and Jack loved playing, hugging and showing off for them. We love our cousins.

DOGS! Dutch and General love it when Jack comes to play. They follow him around, lick him and receive lots of love from Jack-boy. Here, Jack is trying to feed Dutch some gravel from the driveway.

Happy 2 months, Josie-girl!

We can't believe our little girl has been with us for two months. It has flown by. She is trying to grow up too fast already - pushing up with her legs, holding up her head, and squealing with delight at her toys and our faces. She loves to smile at us, especially her big brother when he gets so close to her face. She had a great report at the doctor this week, weighing in at 12 pounds even and measuring 23 1/2 inches. She is on track to become tall (90th percentile for girls) like her namesake, Josephine Garrett Donaldson. Here are a few pics of our little bug.

Superboy

We celebrated fall this year with the Starr and Parker families. It was a fun time watching the boys - Jack (20 months) and Ethan (12 months) cruise around on their Radio Flyer trikes, begging for candy that they can't eat. Lisa and I were just happy to be together and both commented that this is what we always dreamed of doing with our boys - dressing them up, hanging out with friends, watching our kids with their dads, and taking pictures. Here's a few photos of Superboy and Darth Vader on Halloween night.
