The Davis backyard is now the place to be....thanks to Doc, Mam, and Dad! Doc and Mam were so generous to use their Farmers Market profit to provide a new playset for the Davis kids, as well as cousin Clay. Will and a few friends spent last weekend putting this Home Depot playset together, and the kids can't get enough of it. Thanks Doc, Mam, and Daddy! Overheard: I wuv my new playset. Thank you for building it, Daddy. (Jack) JoJo play too - I too! Swing please! (Josie) I think I used at least 600 screws on that thing. (Daddy)
It's good to be home. This is a sweet time as a family and we are enjoying it. Even though we've done this before, it seems new....and we are trying to see things from the perspective of Jack and Jo. They seem to love the new addition to our family. They ask about her when she's not in the room, they want to know why she's crying, what she's eating (!) and are fascinated by her. Kate is sweet but probably a little more spirited than her sister at this age. When she is hungry or wet, she lets us know! We haven't heard such volume from a baby in our house. FYI, Aunt Kat, she doesn't seem to be a spitter either, so I am sorry to disappoint you. We are thankful to have my mom and dad here, helping to entertain Jack and JoJo, cook, clean, and just be around for support and encouragement. Here's a few photos from our first full day at home. Love to all. Come and visit us anytime, just be ready for the hand sanitizer police.
Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday, sweet Kate. Happy birthday to you.
Katherine Joy Davis, "Kate" Born Monday, August 20, 2007 at 7:50 PM Weighed 7 lbs. 9 oz. 19 inches long
Jack and Josie met their new sister and sang "This is the Day" to her. Mom is recovering nicely from her C-section at Baylor Hospital.
Jack and Jo looked a lot like each other at birth...but Kate bears a striking resemblance to her mom (as an infant). She will be remembered as the Davis kid with "all that dark hair".
The Lord has blessed our family with this child, and we give Him thanks. Thanks also for your prayers...Will (proud daddy)
Jack's got a new stage. Lots of them actually...but his new favorite is his old school desk in his new playroom. I am really enjoying his stage of life. He is happy, self-entertaining, hilarious, sleeping and eating well, and wearing big boy underwear. Daily he breaks into song, and one of his favorite times of the day is still morning music, when we crank up the music, get out our instruments and jam to his favorite cds which include Veggie Tales Sing a Long, Mickey Mouse Greatest Hits, and Sesame Street Live. Grandparents, this boy needs a drum set. Josie, on the other hand, is struggling a bit these days. Maybe she knows she is about to lose her place as the baby in the family, maybe she is getting new teeth, or maybe she's just almost 2. We love her anyway, but how many times can one say "no" or whine in a day? She is definitely testing the limit. Our usually sunny girl is a little pessimistic, cranky, and has even earned a few spankings. Two is around the corner, and I think she is testing her boundaries. At the end of the day, though, she is still our snuggler, knows and sings all the words to "Jesus Loves Me," "Row,Row,Row your Boat," "Twinkle, Twinkle," and prays at each meal and bedtime. Her favorite activities are coloring and reading, and basically following Jack around, saying "I too!" "Yo-yo too!" (for JoJo) The stages of life change, and we look forward to the next stage: becoming a family of five. Stay tuned.
Well, you've heard that in the last weeks of pregnancy most women start "nesting," but have you ever heard of sympathetic nesting? Will is a crazy man....cleaning, drilling, measuring, touching up paint, and installing new toilet seats! I thought I was dreaming when, last night at 9pm, he asked, "would you like for me to hang those shelves in the guest bathroom?" I didn't even know how to respond. It was music to my ears. My task-oriented life is one of never-ending projects, ideas and tasks, so nesting doesn't look any different from my original self. It sure has been nice to share the load with someone. Thanks, Will!

I can't believe it's almost time to meet you. I find myself daydreaming about you....wondering what your sweet face will look like. Will you have dark skin and eyes like me, or will you be fair and blue-eyed like your Dad and siblings? You have been knit together perfectly and you will be perfect to me. I will miss your womb acrobatics and constant hiccups. I am working on your room and hope it's ready for you when you come. I look forward to many days and nights of rocking, reading and singing to you in that room. Jack and Josie are ready to meet their baby Kate. Jack told me yesterday, "I'm ready to play with her right now." You take your time, but we all await your birth with excitement. At 37 weeks, you are fully grown and formed. We pray for a healthy delivery for you. We also pray for your spirit - that you will feel completely loved. You are a miracle and we wait for you. I love you, Mama

We have officially moved from our little house in GP to a little more house in GP. We are loving the extra space, getting rid of stuff, and redecorating. Will has been a champ as he led the renovation/remodeling process the past three weeks - painting every surface, laying laminate floors, and making this house a home. The kids are loving their large play/school room and their spacious backyard. Jack keeps saying "I love my new house, Mom." I am enjoying my newly remodeled bathroom with new ceramic tile and my cozy cottage chic kitchen. Will says his favorite room is the bedroom....and why not? The boy finally got a flat screen tv so he can watch ESPN in all its glory from the comfort of his bed. He deserves it! Thanks Will, for providing this home for us - a place to grow, have fun, and be a family.
