Behind Closed Doors

Ever wish you could be a fly on the wall at night when your children fall asleep? Will and I have actually thought about setting up a "spy camera" to see what Jack does to fall asleep. We love that our children put themselves to sleep but would also love to see how they do it!
Lately Jack has been asking for a night light so he can read a book in bed after we say good night at 8pm. We always oblige and are thankful he loves to read! However, I don't think he is always "reading" in there. Before I go to bed each night I turn off his night light. I usually cover him up and take the books out of his bed. Recently, though, I have been seeing some peculiar things.....diapers strewn about the room, stuffed animals in different locations, and the funniest of all, underwear on Jack's head. We had to take a picture of this! The flash made him arouse a bit, a no-no in our parenting book, but it was worth it.
Jack loves his Elmo underwear and managed to find them in the dark of the night and put them on his head. The underwear stayed there all night, and he had a little crease in his hair the next morning. When I asked him about it, he answered simply, "Jack put underwear on head. Jack funny." Somehow the Elmo underwear had my son talking in the third person like the furry monster himself!
Anyway, I guess we could invest in one of those fancy video monitors to watch our kids, but for now, it remains a mystery about what happens behind their closed doors at night.

Meet our Point Guard

When I was home recently I was looking at my baby book, and throughout the book my Mom referred to my maternal instincts and interest in all things domestic! I carried around babies, dressed and fed them, and made my younger brother do the same. I guess I figured all toddler girls were the same. Well, meet Josephine Davis, my daughter. She throws babies to the side and would rather be outside shooting the basketball into the hoop. That's right, the girl can slam dunk at 16 months. Despite my early domestic tendencies, this girl is actually a dream come true for this late-bloomer athlete and sports-obsessed father. We are proud, and happy for Jack, as he will obviously have a worthwhile teammate. She also fetches his baseball after he bats off the tee. Sweet.
In our quest to create a basketball team in our own family, Josie has already filled the position at point guard. Stay tuned in August for the third player in the lineup. You read this right....Team Davis is expanding! All predictions and color commentating welcome...

Jack's Forecast: Life is Good

Imagine you are a two-year old (or "two-half" as Jack often corrects me) and this is your morning.
You get to watch your favorite cartoon: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
You eat your favorite cereal: Life Cinnamon cereal.
Your Daddy, who is your best friend, decides to stay home for the morning.
You play with your new truck Mater in your playroom.
You play in the snow with your Mom and Dad, playing chase, snowball basketball, and snowball fights. (while your little sister sleeps)
You watch Sesame Street and eat your favorite lunch of chicken nuggets, ketchup and oranges.
Life is good, right? Jack Davis says yes.

Cousins

We made lots of new memories with our buddy and cousin Clayton Jack. He and Aunt Kat have been in Clifton for almost 6 weeks so we have been back and forth from GP to the farm every week. We will miss them terribly when they fly back to HI next week but that only means that time is passing quickly until Uncle Clif returns.
Some of our favorite memories this Christmas season with our cousin and nephew are.....
*Kissing and hugging on him (Josie)
*Playing cars and tractors with him (Jack)
*Making Clay smile and laugh (Aunt Cara)
*Playing outside at the farm - in the new tractor, with the dogs, chickens, slides and swings (Jack and Jo)
*Dressing the kids alike (Aunt Cara and Kat)
*Having he and Aunt Kat with us for Christmas Eve at GPBC
*Waking up to the sound of his babbling at the farm
Kat and I were also able to have some awesome sister time (thanks Doc and Mam!) by enjoying one of our favorite hobbies - shopping. My parents spoiled us with babysitting, great food and sleeping past 8 am each morning! Sweet!
We look forward to a time when we will live closer to the Kennedys, but for now it makes these memories that much sweeter. Love you, Cousin Clay and Aunt Kat!

#7

Happy anniversary to my best friend and hero, Will Davis.
At this time seven years ago, we were tying the knot at Camp Balcones Springs in Marble Falls, TX. We were young (still are) but knew we were making the best decision of our lives.
If you know Will, you know that he is the same every day - patient, loving, and optimistic. Being married to him is a joy, and sometimes drives me crazy because I wish I could be more like him! He loves me through my emotional moments and my OCD tendencies. Simply put, he's the best.
So, cheers to Will for marrying me! I look forward to spending the rest of my life with him. This is the only picture I could find of the two of us. It was taken last summer. I think we've been busy with the little people in our lives or "sumpin." -Jack Davis
