Back in the Swaddle Again....

After two very strange, restless nights for miss Kate, she is back in the swaddle again - and thanking us for it with her usual 10-12 hour restful night. When she turned 6 months, I decided I should start trying to wean her off being swaddled at naps and bedtime. Let's just say it didn't work like I had hoped. Even though the rest of her routine stayed just the same, something about her soft swaddle blanket wrapped around her, kept her asleep. So, to keep things sane around here, and to keep Mama (and baby K!) happy and rested, we will continue to swaddle until she doesn't need it anymore. Here's a few pics of our baby this week.

SOS - Save our Sleep

We need some noise around here - white noise that is.
Since Jack and Jo started sharing a room, our sleep has been....interesting.
They talk, (which is cute and hilarious)laugh, toss, turn, cry, and wake each other up. We still have good days with long naps, but then there are days where I think I might go crazy! We are installing blackout shades to help with the morning sunlight, but I think we need some white noise. The humidifier is not doing the job. So, any suggestions or advice for us would be really helpful! Give me brand names or where you bought your best white noise machines....

My Girls

I have said this before, but I always imagined that I would have 4 or 5 sons...maybe because I have two brothers, or because I enjoy sports, or because I just don't understand girly girls!
But, let me tell you, I am loving my girls! This week, "little sis" turned 6 months old...our little half pint. She's half a year and has won our hearts with her cheeky smile, chubby legs and drooly self. She is trying so hard to go places....by leaning and kicking non-stop when she's awake. She is more aware and in tune with her surroundings than Jack and Jo were at this age. She craves attention and stops fussing immediately if you just look at her, sit by her or touch her. She stayed in the church nursery for the first time this month while I taught another class and the workers said she smiled the whole time and blew raspberries.
I am loving pulling out old outfits of JoJo's for Kate to wear. For her 6 month photo she is wearing my fave Gap pjs of Jo's. So sweet....pink, red and blue just make me smile. The funny thing is that I just looked up Josie's monthly bday photos and she was wearing the same pjs for her 6 month photo! This was totally a coincidence. Now, I must send these on to my niece Evy for her 6 mo. photo too!
Bottom line: I love my girls, and all the drama, accessories, and sweetness that come with them. Who would've thought? Happy 6 months to Katie-girl, aka girl #2, little sis, sister baby, Katie-bug, and cutie Kate. (Jack's nickname for her)

V-Day and a SA getaway

Last week was a fun, full week as we celebrated Valentines Day here at home, then at Sonshine Club. I remember my mom giving us little treats on this day, so I have tried to do the same for my little valentines. This year I went with a shoe theme....J and J received rain boots, (Jack - camouflage, Josie - cherries)and Kate some pink and red soft shoes. The kids and I fingerpainted some handprint hearts for Will. Will writes me a poem each year, and this year he included pictures of our family on the poem and letter.
Jack's class at SC had a tea party to celebrate, and Josie loved handing out her homemade cards to her friends. After school, we drove 5 hours to San Antonio to Connor's house.
The kids loved playing with their cousin Connor and his new dog Dolly. Connor also took them to his music class in downtown SA. We are still singing, "Hello, everybody, we're so glad to see you...."
We honored Uncle Josh as he was inducted into the SA Sports Hall of Fame. We are proud of him, and all he has achieved!
To wrap up the family weekend, we had a birthday party for Annie, Abby and Jack - the Feb. and March birthdays.
Thanks to all the Davis family for a good time.

New Every Morning

I don't think I realized how tiring motherhood would be. I look forward to putting the kids in bed every night (7:30 pm on the dot!) so I can catch up with Will, clean up from the crazy day, and unwind! I am always thankful, though, for the new energy and enthusiasm that greets each new day. Yes, I still wish Jack and Josie would sleep in (they rise every morning by 7:30) but it's so exciting to see them each morning and start a new adventure. As for Kate, who wouldn't love seeing these rosy cheeks each morning at 6 am?

Welcome to the World

Jack, Josie and Kate want to welcome their friends, Addison and Emma Eubanks, to the world. The twins were born today to our dear friends Will and Kerrie.
We rejoice with the Eubanks family and can't wait to meet our newest neighbors!

My Farm Boy

Fall 2005 - Jack 18 months old

It's quiet around here. Josie and Kate are sound asleep, and Will is on a mens retreat for church. My boy is at the farm for his own retreat away from his sisters. I miss the boys, but am loving my one-on-one time with Jo.
Jack, you add so much to my life. Sometimes I take it for granted, and then you are away, and I feel just a little bit less of what I am. Does that make sense? Probably not to you, but it will someday. You keep me on my toes, and have since you were born. You are inquisitive, careful, and a perfectionist. You are a rule follower (unlike that crazy sis of yours!) and so compliant. One of your favorite places in the world right now is the farm. I am so glad you enjoy being there....and hope you will always consider it your home away from home. You are Doc's shadow and Mam's pal. You stay busy there - roaming, working, gathering eggs, playing ball, swinging, feeding the animals, and eating all your faves. Thinking of you at the farm made me pull up all my old photos of you there....and of course I had to post one. It's silly, but this photo brought tears to my eyes - tears of happiness and love for my little farm boy! Have fun, and come home soon.
